I had the pleasure of designing a tattoo for one of my closest friends. She provided me with the simple prompt of incorporating the word 'aatmā' (hindi word meaning 'soul') with a flower.

Hindi is a unique language in many ways and one of those ways is that each letter has a line that crosses through the tops of every letter. I used this part of the word to create a stem that extends out to a flower and leaf.

above: I created a few different versions of the tattoo to choose from.

middle: loop style flower with a medium stem

bottom: henna style flower with a thin stem

above: the final product tattooed onto my friend's forearm. fun fact: the whole flower was created with only one pen stroke.
